Abstract
Apresenta-se neste artigo o método do Grupo de Morfologia do Português (GMHP – Universidade de São Paulo/ Brasil) utilizado em análises de dados relativos a derivações sufixais. Entre os pressupostos básicos do grupo inclui-se a reinclusão do elemento diacrônico na análise e segmentação das palavras, como uma condição sine qua non para o conceito de derivação. Esse procedimento mostra, contudo, que há consequências inevitáveis e algumas incompatibilidades teóricas com importantes conceitos das linhas vigentes.
