Abstract
Se aplicó el método de Rives como procedimiento quirúrgico en 50 pacientes con hernias incisionales, en los cuales se utilizó malla monofilamentosa de polipropilene, que se fijó en la aponeurosis abdominal con sutura interrumpida de materiales reabsorbibles. La tasa de recurrencia fue de 2 % en un seguimiento promedio de 2 años, mientras el índice de infección resultó ser de 4 %, sin repercusión, recidiva ni mortalidad. El dolor posoperatorio no constituyó un problema en la serie, cuyos integrantes tuvieron una corta estadía después de la intervención
