Abstract
In this article, it is our intention to carry out a philosophical-methodological problematization concerning some problems that appear for the researcher who decides to take “sociocultural practices” as the central unit of analysis in the situated activity of scientific-academic research in the history of mathematics education. For this, as an example, we will refer to the memory of the development of the research entitled “A study on the process of obsolescence of a cultural practice: the casting out nines” - carried out in co-authorship with Eliana da Silva Souza. Neste artigo, é nosso propósito realizar uma problematização de natureza filosóficometodológica acerca de alguns problemas que se apresentam para o investigador que decide tomar o construto práticas socioculturais como unidade focal de análise na atividade situada de investigação científico-acadêmica em história da educação matemática. Para a discussão de tais problemas, recorreremos, a título de exemplo, à memória do desenvolvimento da pesquisa intitulada Um estudo sobre o processo de obsolescência de uma prática cultural: a prova dos nove, realizada em coautoria com Eliana da Silva Souza.
