Abstract
Este artigo tem por objetivo refletir sobre a que funcionamento se prestam as noções de gênero discursivo e tipo textual, quando tomadas como categorias de análise, na tipificação de textos produzidos na e pela sociedade. Para isso, propõe-se uma distinção entre elas, de cunho teórico-metodológico, por considerar-se que cada uma categoriza realidades diferentes do funcionamento do discurso.
