Abstract
El presente artículo pretende relacionar la formación humanista de Luis Hurtado de Mendoza, II marqués de Mondéjar, con su mecenazgo artístico y literario. Luis Hurtado de Mendoza mostró a lo largo de su vida un alto interés en cuestiones de literatura y estética. Aprendió griego, reunió en Granada una valiosa biblioteca, prestó su ayuda a escritores y humanistas y estuvo detrás del patrocinio de importantes obras artísticas. Donde más destacó fue en la construcción del Palacio de Carlos V en la Alhambra, cuyo estilo debe mucho al gusto clasicista y a la intervención del marqués.
