Abstract
La mayoría de las novelas de Javier Marías consisten esencialmente en relatos de trastornos padecidos por sendos narradores y de los efectos de la perturbación sobre las vidas y mentes de éstos. Este fenómeno extendido invita a una lectura alegórica, la alegoría de una anomalía que padece el propio escritor (en el proceso de creación), porque tanto en el caso de los narradores como en el del autor el trastorno contribuye en muy gran medida a la creación de la historia narrada, hasta tal punto que se podría sostener que en la narrativa de Marías la creación literaria equivale a un trastorno. Abstract The majority of Javier Marías’s novels are, in effect, stories of a mental disorder experienced by each of the narrators and of the effects of this disturbance on their lives and minds. This prominent phenomenon invites an allegorical reading, namely that of an anomaly the writer himself is experiencing (during the creative process), because both in the case of the narrators and in that of the author the disorder contributes to a very considerable extent to the creation of the story narrated, to such a degree that one could argue that in Marías’s prose narratives literary creation corresponds to mental disturbance.
