Abstract
The increasing practice of subcontracting has beenone of the most remarkable characteristics ofwork relations in recent decades. Among the workers’ categories with higher qualification, that ofInformation Technology – IT specialists has been, perhaps, one of the most affected by such kindof practice, as many organizations has considered that these professionals’ activities are notrelated to their core business. One of most populartypes of subcontracting is the one in which theIT workers are employees of a service enterprise but stay physically allocated in the contractorcompany installations. In individuals’ point of view, it is relevant, therefore, to observe how theyunderstand the double work relation that they facein such situations. This paper assumes thisissue, by investigating how this double relation influences such individuals’ psychological contracts.The paper focuses on three cases of outsourcing, studied by means of interviews with somesubcontracted professionals and their contract managers. The conclusions generated from thecases’ analysis enhanced the proposition of a conceptual framework representing the psychologicalcontracts’ dynamics of formation and continuity, considering individuals involved in thissubcontracting modality
