Abstract
Tierra del Fuego, la provincia más austral de Argentina, ha experimentado un espectacular despliegue demográfi co a partir de la década de 1980. El análisis del mismo es inseparable de las políticas de promoción industrial implementadas en la región, las cuales han infl uido decisivamente en su evolución económica y social. Con datos que parten de la década de 1990 se describirá la composición de la población provincial, con especial énfasis en el análisis del componente migratorio y tomando en cuenta la inserción ocupacional y la antigüedad de la migración. El diseño del presente trabajo se sustenta en un enfoque descriptivo y cuantitativo, utilizándose como fuente de datos las bases originales de la Encuesta Permanente de Hogares pertenecientes a diferentes ondas entre los años 1993 y 2001.
