Abstract
Social theory today is undergoing a crisis. This crisis is brought about by the postmodern turn in social theory. In this essay postmodernism is defined both as a cultural movement and as the social condition of late capitalism. This paper deals with the restructuring of sociological theory as a result of this postmodern turn. Then, the implications of postmodern theory are discussed in relation to the future of doing a postcolonial sociology in the Philippines.
