Abstract
This paper tries to compare «Las Partidas» of Alfonso X and «El Quijote» of Cervantes, with the purpose of analyzing the changes produced in the knightly ideal, from the Middle Ages to the Baroque period. It shows the real situation of a commonplace, «the knight's honour», which was regulated by Alfonso X and, having been respected during the Reconquest period, it is then subject to criticism and mockery in the masterpiece of the Spanish Baroque period, as a moralizing example.
