Abstract
The main themes of the conference "Alltag im Aufbruch. Ein psychologisches Profil der Gegenwartskultur" [Everyday Life on the Start. A psychological (re)view on present culture] have been the phenomena of everyday life in German culture and in others, for instance Poland and Korea. In contrast to mainstream psychology that prefers the "naturalisation of the mental", the conference focused on the cultural construction of sense and meaning as intentional acts. The contributors tried to capture everyday life by employing six main themes: Culture of Time, Endangered Culture, Culture of Everyday Life, Youth Culture, Culture of Subjectivity and Media Culture. One of the main topics during the meeting was the ambiguous interpretation of phenomena as a methodological problem; for example, the methodological problem of operationalising phenomena like "everyday life" and culture itself.
