Abstract
ABSTRACT This article operates an anthropology of cinema having as its object the movie El Topo from the Chilean director Alejandro Jodorowsky and the notion of the sacred. To operationalize the concept of sacred cinema we use the concept of artistic configuration as proposed by philosopher Alain Badiou. We detect two deaths of the hero in the movie and we raise the question of sacred cinema envolving montage and anxiety. We debate the question, opposing sacred cinema to profane cinema, and we conclude with the actualization of sacred cinema in a configuration.
