Abstract
ABSTRAK Untuk tujuan swasembada jagung tahun 2007, pemerintah menetapkan Sulawesi sebagai pulau produksi jagung nasional. Khususnya Propinsi Sulawesi Utara, menetapkan crash program pengembangan agribisnis jagung dengan target area tanaman pada April 2006 seluas 10.000 ha dengan hasil 38.200 ton jagung. Luasan ini diperkirakan menghasilkan 28.000 t BK tebon jagung per waktu panen yang dapat menyediakan pakan untuk 41.482 ekor sapi dengan berat badan 250 kg setiap hari selama 90 hari. Integrasi sapi dalam crash program agribisnis jagung itu akan dapat mengeliminasi marjinalitas kontribusi Sulawesi Utara terhadap pengadaan daging nasional dan meningkatkan ketahanan pangan. Melalui integrasi itu, per unit lahan akan menghasilkan produk bernilai-jual seperti jagung, daging/susu, tenaga kerja serta pupuk kandang. Namun, agar kebijakan integrasi mendapatkan hasil optimal disarankan adanya tahap evaluasi dan perencanaan secara empiris terlebih dahulu. Kata kunci : agribisnis, jagung, sapi, Sulawesi Utara ABSTRACT Aiming at maize self-sufficiency in 2007, Sulawesi has been declared by the government as the national maize producing island. Particularly, the North Sulawesi province has set a crash program called maize agribusines development. A total of 10,000 ha planting area of maize was programmed by April 2006 to produce 38,200 t of maize. This would produced 28,000 t dry matter of maize stover per harvest period that can be used to feed 41,482 heads of 250 kg liveweight cattle for 90 days. Integration of cattle into the existing crash program of maize agribusiness will eliminate the marginal contribution of North Sulawesi to national meat production the province meat resiliance. Through the integration, varying tradable products will be produced per land unit including maize, meat/milk, draught power and organic fertilizer. To obtained optimum integration, however, evaluation and empirical planning are suggested to be implemented in advance. Keywords : agribusiness, maize, cattle, North Sulawesi
