Abstract
Se pretende reconocer la capacidad comunicativa de una exploración tecnológica poco valorada en su momento.SUMMARY In publications about Catalan architecture of the 1960’s and 70’s, it is usual to recognise the existence of a supposed controversy among the architects of the time, who practiced the profession from the principles of modernity. Through their works, realists and idealists defended different ways of understanding design practice, linked to different technological standpoints. The historical importance reached by Catalan realism eclipsed those who had chosen idealistic optimism as their architectural method. Tous and Fargas belonged to the latter. The building they planned as the Head Office of Banca Catalana in the Paseo de Gracia in Barcelona, displays a series of constructive systems that show both the modernity of the architects and the symbolic vocation of their architecture. It is attempted to recognise the communicative capacity of a technological exploration that was little valued in its day.
