Uno de los edificios más significativos en la historia de la ciudad ha sido el Teatro Concepción. Para los antiguos penquistas, la sola reminiscencia del magnífico coliseo significa la evocación de toda una época, de aquel Concepción señorial de construcciones neoclásicas, devastado por un implacable destino telúrico.
