Abstract
This article investigates the impact of the archaic, religious, and modern rituals on individual time of its participants, defining peculiarities of the time flow in the course of a religious ritual. It establishes the effect of narcotic substances and physical tests on the subjective time, studying the phenomenon of alcohol ritualization in the modern world.
The author analyzes sound images which make up the ritual text, revealing the role of sound and voice as talismans as well as the mediators between the areas of the profane and the sacred.
The study defines the role of sound markers in the traditional and Christian calendars. It confirms the presence of such markers in the modern world. Moreover, the article determines the presence of sound marking in the life cycle.
The author studies ritual rhythm as a powerful tool of ritual language, establishing its ability to bring the individual to the higher levels of consciousness.
Music is interpreted as a powerful tool of worship representing a synthesis of sound and rhythm. The article investigates mediating and harmonizing functions of music in the mythological consciousness, revealing the impact of music on the listener’s physiology. It establishes transformation of current ideological attitudes in the musical texts, with the further ritualization of the latter as well as their inclusion in the calendar cycle.
