Abstract
La relación entre la Alianza Nacional Popular, fundada en 1961 por el general Gustavo Rojas Pinilla, y el Movimiento 19 de Abril, guerrilla urbana colombiana lanzada en 1974, es analizada a través de los orígenes de esa guerrilla, su participación en la Alianza Nacional Popular, su lucha con la cúpula del partido y la ruptura resultante. El artículo usa principalmente el archivo histórico del Movimiento 19 de Abril, que se complementa con entrevistas y archivos de prensa. La principal conclusión es que la relación entre las dos organizaciones se fundamentó en la ambivalencia y el romanticismo, mezcla que produjo efectos contraproducentes.
