Abstract
La conducta suicida está determinada por diferentes causas (pobreza, desempleo, humillación, pérdida de seres queridos, ruptura de relaciones amorosas, maltratos durante la infancia, entre otros), además de determinados trastornos mentales como la depresión y la esquizofrenia. A tales efectos se exponen algunos elementos relacionados con el tema y se demuestra que la pronta identificación de la conducta suicida y el tratamiento adecuado a las personas con trastornos mentales constituyen una importante estrategia preventiva
