Abstract
In hierdie artikel word ’n analise van T.T. Cloete se gedig ‘Achilles se skild’ uit die bundel onversadig (2011) gemaak. Die doel is eerstens om die verhaalgegewe binne die konteks van Homeros se Ilias te plaas en die simboliese betekenis van die afbeeldings wat daarop verskyn, te verreken. Daarna word Cloete se omdigting van die teks ondersoek deur dit met die bronteks te vergelyk om aan te toon hoe die digter die Ilias-gegewe toe-eien en verwerk om ’n lewens- en wêreldbeeld te skep wat in lyn met die res van die bundel onversadig en Cloete se digterlike oeuvre as sodanig is.
