Abstract
Neste artigo apresentamos os resultados obtidos na dissertação de mestrado intitulada O papel da espacialidade em Quatrevingt-treize (1814) de Victor Hugo, na qual se analisa como a Revolução Francesa redefiniu alguns significados e contribuiu para a formação do mundo contemporâneo. Nesse romance histórico se observa a composição literária dos espaços rebeldes e monárquicos por meio de uma visão romântica e finissecular. Durante a leitura do livro, o leitor é surpreendido por uma narrativa focada na resistência ao progresso revolucionário em 1793: ''A Guerra da Vendéia'', um espaço monárquico e feudal em oposição à Paris revolucionária.
