Abstract
O artigo discute a repressão à guerrilha do Araguaia, situando-a na lógica da Doutrina de Segurança Nacional, doutrina militar que sofreu modificações no contexto da guerra fria e forneceu os fundamentos para as atividades repressivas nas ditaduras militares na América Latina. Apresenta-se o evolver da
atuação das Forças Armadas, em particular do exército, no processo de destruição da guerrilha, sua reclassificação segundo os preceitos da Doutrina de Segurança Nacional e o extermínio dos guerrilheiros. Aborda-se, ainda, a repressão aos camponeses como componente de desmantelamento do movimento guerrilheiro. Neste trabalho foram privilegiadas as fontes produzidas pelas Forças Armadas no decorrer dos anos de 1972 e 1973.
