Abstract
El artículo realiza una periodización de la historia del cantón de Osa utilizando como ejes temáticos la cuestión ambiental, al impacto de la llegada y retiro de la Compañía Bananera, el problema de la tierra y el agro, y las relaciones entre el municipio, el Estado y la bananera. Para esto se acude principalmente a la documentación resguardada en el Archivo Nacional de Costa Rica.
