Abstract
This article deals with the activities and views of Juan de Dios Ramírez Heredia, Lívia Járóka and Viktória Mohácsi, the only three Gypsies in the European Parliament. They were elected on the ballots of different parties – the left-wing Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE), the liberal-right Alliance of Young Democrats (Fidesz) from Hungary, and the centrist liberal Alliance of Free Democrats (SZDSZ) from Hungary. But the ideological differences among them, as well as among their European “party families”, have a relatively small influence on their work and views in terms of the very specific problems and themes associated with Gypsies in Europe.
