Abstract
The aim of this paper is to present and discuss the process of planning, organization and management of business archives and documents from the standpoint of the professional of executive secretary. It begins from the introduction to current scenario with focus on global dynamics, the service demands and the essential role of executive secretary in the company. It presents a theoretical review of key concepts and standards internationally adopted. The sets out the need of carry more than the simple organization of archives, management of documents and archives. Based on this premise, we present conceptual bases for implantation of a Service of Documentation and Archive, main document types in companies, and criteria of classification and document custody temporality. We discuss about the importance of strategic planning, tactical and operational management of archives. Finally, we present a description of the steps of the implantation of an Archive and Documentation Service, and the code of ethics of document manager.
