Abstract
Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar a impacto psicológico a social da epidemic de gripe espanhola sabre a cidade do Rio de Janeiro em 1918 a partir do registro dos acontecimentos na imprensa carioca, ponto de vista privilegiado para a reconstrução histórica dessa experiência. A epidemia de gripe e tratada coma um fenômeno cultural a social relacionado as atitudes a representações coletivas sabre a doença e a morte.
The article analyzes the psychological and social impacts that the 1918 influenza epidemic had within Rio de, Janeiro, as registered in the city'spress - a choice perspective from which to reconstruct the history of this experience. The epidemic is explored as a cultural and social phenomenon having to do with collective attitudes and representations regarding disease and death.
