Abstract
У повсякденній медичній практиці щоденно накопичується величезний обсяг електронних медичних записів.
Найсучасніший розділ епідеміології, що виник в останні 5 років і займається вилученням епідеміологічної інформації із вже існуючих електронних баз даних, називається е-епідеміологією. Зрозуміло, що такі дослідження набагато дешевші, ніж звичайні епідеміологічні дослідження. Джерела, якими оперує е-епідеміологія, можна поділити на 2 групи. Першу складають електронні медіа, насамперед мережа Інтернет. Другу -електронні бази даних закладів охорони здоров'я. Особливістю останніх є те, що вони формуються на основі принципу звертальності, тобто є так званими «морбідними» вибірками.
