Abstract
Las investigaciones en el campo de las mentalidades ganaron en las últimas décadas espacio definitivo en los centros de producción historiográfico de varios países, aunque lo mismo no puede decirse, paradójicamente, de la disciplina o del propio concepto de mentalidades, víctimas de un desgaste casi irreversible ante las númerosas críticas que se le hicieron. Críticas "de afuera", esto es, de aquellos que rechazan los temas de las mentalidades o señalan su debilidad explicativa. Críticas "de adentro", es decir, de aquellos que hacen o hicieron investigaciones en este campo, pero asimilaron las objeciones "externas" y/o aumentaron sus propias inquietudes sobre la solidez teórica de las mentalidades.
