Abstract
A fines del siglo pasado, al mismo tiempo que un procedimiento seroterápico aplicado a la enfermedad hanseniana hacía su aparición en el Laboratorio del doctor Carrasquilla, una esperanza nueva nacía en el corazón de las ciudades que habitan los que la sociedad repudia. Seis, quizá diez mil o más leprosos vieron la luz de una ilusión que nada confundía con las que propagan los charlatanes, hábiles explotadores de una clase indefensa. Una escuela nueva pareció nacer. Los ensayos se multiplicaron y amplificaron hasta que, por razones que no sorprenderían al sociólogo que conociese los compatriotas de Santander, la duda y el  desaliento colectivos, cuando no la mala voluntad, troncharon en sus comienzos un estudio cuyo interés quisiéramos hacer resaltar en éste modesto trabajo.
