Abstract
Como afirma Philip Meyer, "Un periodista competente es un científico en ejercicio". Los periodistas, como los científicos, buscan demostrar la realidad: observan lo que les rodea, lo estudian y analizan, para sacar luego sus propias hipótesis; a partir de éstas calibran las consecuencias y desarrollan una metodología, que puede ser comprobada empíricamente dando lugar a teorías que se aplicarán de nuevo, y que, muchas veces, se convierten en paradigmas. Hoy, más que nunca, con la aparición de Internet el comportamiento en la red se está autoinventando y el periodista en línea juega un papel decisivo en la definición de la comunicación en la web.
