Abstract
The study aimed to define the Permanent Preservation Areas (PPA) of hills and mountains tops, water courses and springs in the Feliz Lembrança stream basin (Alegre/ES), as well as identify which land uses predominate over others. PPA located in the margins of water courses of watershed, showed the largest area (154.40 ha), followed by the tops of hills and mountains (122.07 ha), and PPA in the springs had the smallest area (25.06 ha). The study showed that the predominant use of the soil within the PPA was pasture, for a total of 152.57 ha (54.83%). Only 19.63% of the area of PPA (53.96 ha) are covered by forest cover, showing their marked susceptibility, due to fragmentation of the landscape.
