Abstract
El artículo trata sobre algunos aspectos generales respecto a los deslizamientos en Costa Rica. Expone brevemente criterios básicos para su análisis, como el conocimiento sobre la geología y fallas locales, entre otros. Además, se enfoca en la descripción de dos tipos de deslizamientos: los rápidos y los lentos. Presenta las principales características de cada uno de ellos y da algunos ejemplos que han sucedido en el país. Por último, dentro de los deslizamientos lentos da una definición y explicación de los flujos de lodos The article refers to some general aspects about landslides in Costa Rica. It briefly presents basic criteria to analyze them, as well as knowledge about geology and local faults, among others. It also focuses on the description of two types of landslides: fast and slow. It includes the main characteristics of each and presents some examples that have occurred in the country. Finally, slow landslides include a definition and an explanation of mudflow
