Abstract
<p><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Arial;">A hipótese do trabalho é a de que, no Brasil, em que pese a edição das diretrizes curriculares indicarem a existência de uma vontade política no sentido de ampliar o conhecimento da sociedade sobre a arte, ainda estamos longe de construir uma verdadeira democracia nesse campo da cultura. Nesse sentido o trabalho busca esclarecer de que modo e sob que circunstâncias históricas o pensamento conservador tem cerceado a produção artística no Brasil e, por outro lado, de que modo e sob que circunstâncias as novas diretrizes do MEC para o ensino de arte acentuam esse conservadorismo. </span></p>
