Abstract
The article deals with the question of peculiarities of color adjectives' usage in the prose pieces of writers-realists A.I. Kuprin and A.S. Serafimovich of 19th and 20th centuries. Reference to the adjectives as the subject of research depends on the particular potential of these parts of speech in semantic and connotative areas. The purpose of the article is to determine the most typical coloratives of adjectives in the writers' prose works and to define the peculiarities of the aesthetic meanings of adjectives. Selection of one or another adjective, which belongs to the lexico-semantic group of color, and also adjective's semantic content depends on the main idea, problems of the prose pieces, as well as the author's view of the world. Special attention is paid to the influence of a particular linguistic context on the semantic and expressive-emotional content of adjectives. The relevance of the study is determined by the aspiration to find figurative and expressive capacity of A.I. Kuprin's and A.S. Serafimovich's language systems, because such writers made a significant contribution to the development of Russian literature. The relevance of the research is also determined by the lack of comparative works about linguistic side of the writers' prose pieces. Furthermore, this complex analysis gives us the opportunity to make decision about these writers' individual peculiarities of adjectives' use.
