Abstract
The author studies several problems concerning the Epic Cycle: 1. Attribution of a verse transmitted by Clearch. ap. Ath. 4 b, Phld. Piet. p. 150 G., and D. L. II 117 to the Cypria. The original sense of the sentence was not the one generally attributed to it «you will not take aside the crowd». but «you will not dispel the sorrow from me». 2. Analysis of two variants of Aethiopis' beginning by Arctinus (Sch. Il. XXIV 804a and Pap. of the Brit. Mus. 1873 [7] XXII 42). They are two rhapsodic variants, previous to Zenodotus, to be declaimed immediately after the Iliad 3. The quotation of the names of the snakes who attack Laokoon (Porkys and Chariboia) comes from the Iliu Persis by Arctinus.
