Abstract
Las sociedades de artesanos neogranadinas se examinan a la luz de la historiografía. Se contrastan las diferentes interpretaciones y modelos que los historiadores contemporáneos han elaborado para explicar, por ejemplo, las influencias políticas e ideológicas de la Revolución del 48 en Francia, sobre los sucesos de 1854 en la Nueva Granada; también, las posibles conexiones entre artesanado y grupos liberales. Incluye aspectos pertinentes al origen, la naturaleza y los fines de los grupos de artesanos. Termina haciendo un balance de las carencias historiográficas respecto al manejo y crítica de las fuentes.
