Abstract
The aim of this paper is to expose the principles that guide the use of language in our cyber dialogues. A written conversation can be carried through any kind of electronic genres. This specific conversation will be more or less interactive depending on the synchronic or asynchronic nature of the channel of communication. This pragmalinguistic analysis, based on super-, macro- and micro-structural levels, pretends to show that there is no clear-cut distinction between oral and written discourse; and, also, that the lack of extra-linguistic information in written conversation is not an insurmountable obstacle, because of the ways to transmit non-verbal information effectively by language users. Markers of orality, including grammatical ones, are always present in electronic genres with different degrees of orality. Consequently, the influence of oral language on writing will gradually become evident.
