Abstract
Inúmeras discussões em diferentes escalas são trazidas à tona para tentar solucionar os graves problemas sociambientais que afligem toda a humanidade. O uso inadequado dos recursos naturais traz consigo graves problemas socioambientais que atingem todos os segmentos da sociedade. A educação é uma ferramenta que tem por objetivo a invocação e a sensibilização para a mudança, mudanças de comportamentos, de atos e de relações sociais. A Educação Ambiental está inserida em diferentes espaços de aprendizagem formal e informal, mas ainda é abordada com timidez. Assim, faz-se necessário que o currículo escolar seja repensado buscando desenvolver práticas pedagógicas ambientalizadas que abordem questões a partir do local de vivência do aluno. Para isso, propõem-se que a Educação Ambiental seja trabalhada como um tema gerador na perspectiva da abordagem educacional freireana.
