Abstract
Finally, "Tubambe" reveals its identity ! Hadraphe ethiopica (Bethune-Baker) (Limacodidae), an edible caterpillar of Zambezian open forests. Human consumption of Limacodidae caterpillars has been quoted from South-Central Africa. One of these species, Hadraphe ethiopica, was determined. Data concerning its biological cycle and its African distribution are summarized. Chemical analyses of dried samples give valuable data concerning amino acids and fatty acids contents, consequently on their nutritive value.
