Abstract

Inequality gender roles in organizations still foundincluding in Islamic educational institutions such asboarding school. The cause of this discrepancy comesfrom the influence of gender bias of most of the materials(kitab kuning) i.e. the view of the position of women asbeing “second class”, the assumption that the abilityof women only in domestic affairs just as well as theview of women in boarding schools of the obligation torespect, to follow and to obey men. Whereas, it is alsofound the involvement of women in management ofboarding schools. The demands of women’s leadershipemerged from boarding relationships characteristic thatseparates men and women as well as the acceptance ofthe girls’ boarding schools also requires the contributionof women’s leadership as a representative of the highestleadership of “kyai”.
