The technique of discourse analysis was used to analyze the data, because it is the speech part of the process of social construction of reality. Interviews were conducted with those involved with the social cooperative project, trying to understand, in view of these, assumptions that guide and create meaning in discourse about social responsibility, establishing a relationship between the expression and the principles that guide the essence of the cooperative. Analyzing the data collected in this research, it was found that when cooperatives implement a social responsibility project, fail to strengthen the cooperative itself, this shows that social responsibility is closely linked to the business context, in order to resolve social problems.
