This article seeks to recapture the invitation to study and to update the contribution of the Parents of the Church for the current theological labor. That demands to assume the interdisciplinary task in its auxiliary form and to make its method more explicit, considering the complexity of elements involved in the study of the Christian antiquity. To invigorate the interdisciplinary dialogue, Ricoeur ’s hermeneutics offers a particular horizon that favors it, and allows to get to a better comprehension of the scope of the Parents’ legacy and the update of its meaning in the theological labor nowadays.
