Abstract

RESUMEN: El artículo resalta la súbita transformación del Ejercito Zapatista de Liberación Nacional (EZLN) —el grupo indígena armado que opera en Chiapas, México— de un grupo de carácter marxista ortodoxo a un grupo en favor de las tesis indianistas. Se identifican cuatro fases consecutivas en la retórica de la autopresentación del EZLN: marxista ortodoxa, nacionalista revolucionaria mexicana, indigenista e indianista. Se observa asimismo el papel de mutua alimentación, de demanda y oferta, entre el líder de los insurgentes, subcomandante Marcos, la prensa y el público mexicano en la progresiva caracterización pública del EZLN.

ABSTRACT: The article emphasizes on sudden transformation of Ejercito Zapatista de Liberación nacional (EZLN),- indigenous armed group operating in Chiapas, Mexico- from ortodox marxist group to a group favoured to indigenous thesis. Four stages of rethoric representation of EZLN are mentioned: ortodox marxist, mexican nationalrevolutionarian, indigenous and indianist. Besides, rol of mutual feedback in the caractherization of EZLN are observed, of demand and supply among lider of insurgents, comandante Marcos, press and mexican people.
