Abstract
O artigo apresenta algumas possibilidades que conceitos e metáforas espaciais oferecem para as ciências humanas e sociais, nos estudos de gênero e sexualidade, passando por questões como identidade e imagem no contemporâneo. Partindo do feminismo pós-colonial e de dois campos etnográficos distintos, como um carnaval gay e um festival de cinema da diversidade sexual, o autor se utiliza do conceito de territorialidade como uma alternativa a enfoques que correm o risco de gerar certos essencialismos em temas como identidade ou cultura, uma preocupação em voga na antropologia contemporânea.
