Abstract
La historia contenida en el expediente que se transcribe refiere un caso aparentemente trivial y, posiblemente, más común de lo que se piensa. Se trata de una joven india del pueblo de Pasca, Francisca Viracachá, quien, a principios del siglo XVIII, confesó haber matado a otra india de ese pueblo por celos. Para lograr sus fines utilizó unas hierbas que le había dado su madre para que se vengara en caso de que alguien le hiciera daño. En principio podría clasificarse -en términos modernos- como un homicidio por envenenamiento; sin embargo, la confesante afirmó que para matar a su enemiga, María Chiquita, sólo le bastó con entrar a su casa y colocarle las hierbas en la cama.
