Abstract
This article studies aspects of performance and artistic creation related to body
movement, breathing and singing – based on a practice known as Breathing Experience. It aims at placing this type of experimentation in the larger context of the performative arts. The trend to develop an art form out of a body-practice is regarded as a direct consequence of a historical process, which has started at the beginning of the twentieth century, leading up to new artistic ideals.
