Abstract
Chalá é o que meu pai melhor fazia. O pão trançado, a massa leve em vaga doçura e uma pitada de sal, polvilhado com sementes de papoula. O forno era lento e antiquado na casa de Madureira. Fogão de má qualidade, barato e de segunda mão, herdado do irmão morto. Meu tio Luís faleceria três dias após nossa chegada ao Brasil, a convite seu. Era solteiro, iria morrendo de câncer, e a herança se perderia. Pouca coisa, mas era preciso deixar algo para alguém. A transmissão perpetuada, o fluxo de vida para além de cada um, para além dele, mísero e solitário judeu perdido nos trópicos.
