Abstract
This contribute deals with the typological study of pithoi attested in eastern Sicily. During the Bronze Age, this ceramic class is especially presented in the necropoleis located in the district of Messina, where large storage jars were employed as enchytrismòs burials. Recent studies on examples from San Paolillo (Catania) and Thapsos (Syracuse) have provided significant data to start the classification of all the other similar vessels from the northeastern Sicilian necropoleis.
