Abstract
É questionável a influência de parcelas adjacentes na avaliação de linhagens e/ou cultivares cujos caracteres, tais como resistência aos patógenos e arquitetura das plantas, apresentam grande variação. Para testar essa hipótese, desenvolveram-se experimentos por meio dos quais se avaliaram cultivares de feijão (Phaseolus vulgaris), distintos quanto ao nível de resistência aos patógenos causadores da mancha-angular e da antracnose e também quanto à arquitetura das plantas. Efetuaram-se as avaliações, com base nas notas de 1 a 5, concedidas por, no mínimo, três avaliadores, no caso do porte das plantas, e cinco, no de resistência a patógenos. As notas obtidas, após calculada a média, foram submetidas às análises da variância. Apesar de constatado que o desempenho dos cultivares foi alterado em função do material genético situado na sua proximidade, verificou-se que o efeito de parcelas adjacentes não lhes modificou a classificação em termos de resistência a patógenos e porte das plantas. Entretanto, os altos valores de coeficientes de variação estimados para os experimentos de feijão podem ser explicados pelo efeito das parcelas adjacentes.
Common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) cultivars, with different plant type and resistance level to the fungus of angular leaf spot and anthracnose, were evaluated aiming to verify interplot effect. Those traits were evaluated through a note scale (1 to 5), used by three evaluators in the case of plant height, and five, in the pathogen resistence. The analysis of variance was performed based on the average of each trait estimated from the evaluators data. Although interplot effect was significant, it was not detected the interaction between cultivars and kind of adjacent plot. So it was concluded that interplot effect do not change the ranking of cultivars, and therefore it might not be a problem for selection. However, the high values of the coefficient of experimental variation, that have been estimated in common bean experiments, might have interplot effect as its main cause, when different genotypes were evaluated.
