Abstract
O presente trabalho trata de um diagnóstico ambiental, realizado na microbacia do Rio do Saco, no município de Santa Luzia, estado da Paraíba. Com o objetivo de se avaliar os fatores de risco da deterioração ambiental ocasionada pela exploração agropecuária e extrativismo vegetal, aplicaram-se questionários junto à população da área em estudo. A metodologia utilizada nesta pesquisa não avalia apenas os aspectos físicos ou biológicos vulneráveis ao processo de deterioração ambiental, mas, também, considera aspectos sociais (demografia, nível de instrução, dentre outras) dos habitantes da microbacia. Constatou-se que a maioria dos chefes de famílias apresenta idade ≥ 66, revelando a ausência da população jovem na microbacia e um nível de escolaridade baixo dos habitantes; já a deterioração ambiental foi da ordem de 41,38%, valor crítico de acordo com a metodologia utilizada por Rocha (1997).   Palavras-Chave: Deterioração ambiental, Recursos naturais, Microbacia.   Environmental Diagnosis of the Rio do Saco Watershed, Santa Luzia-PB   ABSTRACT  This work deals with an environmental assessment conducted in the watershed of the Saco River in the municipality of Santa Luzia, Paraíba state. In order to evaluate the risk factors of environmental degradation caused by agricultural exploitation and extraction plant, questionnaires were applied to the population of the study area. The methodology used in this study not only evaluates the physical or biological process vulnerable to environmental deterioration, but also considers social aspects (demography, education level, among others) of the inhabitants of the watershed. It was found that most heads of households aged ≥ 66 shows, revealing the absence of the young population in the watershed and a low level of education of the inhabitants, whereas the environmental deterioration was approximately 41.38%, according to the critical value the methodology used by Rocha (1997).
