Abstract
<p class="MsoBodyText" style="margin: 6pt 0cm 0pt; line-height: 150%; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: black;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman;">No decorrer do desenvolvimento capitalista, tamb&eacute;m a semente tornou-se uma mercadoria. Enquanto, historicamente, a semente foi para o agricultor, apenas parte guardada da &uacute;ltima colheita, atualmente ela tornou-se mais um insumo que precisa ser comprado. Sob uma nova &oacute;tica, as possibilidades oferecidas pelos transg&ecirc;nicos aprofundam a mercantiliza&ccedil;&atilde;o das sementes, alterando, assim, o seu valor de uso, de tal maneira que acabam por gerar rela&ccedil;&otilde;es cada vez mais dependentes. Juntamente com a semente transg&ecirc;nica, os agricultores acabam comprando, necessariamente, o controle e a determina&ccedil;&atilde;o externos &agrave; sua propriedade. De fora, &eacute; determinado o que deve ser cultivado, que insumos ser&atilde;o utilizados no processo de produ&ccedil;&atilde;o, e quanto, enfim, pode ser lucrado. </span></span></span></p>
